Jonathan Spitz was appointed as Assistant Professor of Cello and Head of the String Area in the Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2015. He was promoted to Associate Professor in April 2021. Spitz has been principal cello of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 1991, and tours internationally as a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, where he also served as co-artistic director for seven years. He also performs as the principal cellist of the American Ballet Theater Orchestra.
