Jennifer R. Hemler earned her Ph.D. in sociology at Rutgers. She is a research associate in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Research Division, contributing to innovative quality improvement interventions and other studies of primary care. Beyond her research role, Dr. Hemler directs the Rutgers Network of Affiliated Family Medicine Residencies, a collaboration of eight family medicine residency programs in New Jersey. Her goal in directing the network is to facilitate greater communication and collaboration between members, enhance educational programming, and lead the Network in becoming a state-level voice in conversations about the future of graduate medical education and family medicine. Her aim throughout her work is to bridge the social and medical sciences to reduce disparities in medical treatment and improve health outcomes.
