Dr. Fina Liotta is an Associate Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Chemistry at Rutgers University—Newark where she teaches undergraduate Organic Chemistry Lecture and Laboratory courses. Prior to entering academia, she spent almost 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry where she worked as a medicinal chemist at the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute. Dr. Liotta managed successful drug discovery programs in the areas of inflammation and endocrinology research, culminating in several early development candidates. A native of Italy, Dr. Liotta received her PhD in Organic Chemistry from Rutgers University—Newark and completed Postdoctoral work in natural product synthesis at the University of Pennsylvania. She has authored several scientific publications and is the inventor of 15 patents.
