Daniel Horton, MD, MSCE, FAAP, FACR, FISPE, is a tenured Associate Professor of Pediatrics (RWJMS) and Epidemiology (SPH), RBHS Chancellor’s Scholar, board-certified pediatric rheumatologist, and physician-scientist with a focus on clinical epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology. Dan serves as faculty director of the Rutgers Institute for Health Survey / Data Core, which manages and facilitates access to the institute’s survey and data resources and computing infrastructure. He also serves as co-leader of the Team Science Core for the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science, organizing activities and performing research related to team science across the consortium.
Dan’s research focuses on the utilization, effectiveness, and safety of drugs in large pediatric populations and the origins and management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other childhood diseases. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and multiple research foundations. He has held various leadership positions in the American College of Rheumatology, Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance, and International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology. He also serves as a consultant to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee.
Dan earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Harvard College, a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania.
