Carmen R. Castro

Carmen Castro is the Assistant Director of Business Services | HR & Program Manager at the School of Social Work. She oversees HR operations and is responsible for developing and implementing professional development opportunities for staff. She also serves on the Inclusion, Intersectionality, Diversity, Equity, and Advancement (IIDEA) Committee and is an advisor to the school’s Staff Council. Before joining the School of Social Work in 2023, Carmen was part of the Faculty Diversity Collaborative (FDC) under University Equity and Inclusion at Rutgers. She also served under Academic Affairs working with the postdoctoral community and faculty development initiatives, such as the university-wide Rutgers Connection Network (RCN) mentoring program.  

Before joining Academic Affairs, Carmen oversaw the personnel activities for the Center for Biomaterials in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) for over 7 years. She also supported federally funded postdoctoral training programs, as well as undergraduate and graduate student summer research initiatives.  

Carmen is a proud alum earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s in Education from Rutgers University.
