Dr. Anthony Rosania is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School where he serves as Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations and Chief of the Division for Operations, Quality, and Informatics. In this capacity he oversees clinical operations and quality at University Hospital – Newark in both the Emergency Department and ED Observation Unit. In addition to board certification in emergency medicine, Dr. Rosania also holds board certifications in clinical informatics, as well as healthcare administration, leadership, and management. Dr. Rosania has an extensive background in ED Operations and Observation Medicine. He serves as the Chair of the Section on Observation Medicine for the American College of Emergency Physicians and has been recognized by both ACEP and the AAEM-Physician Group for his expertise in both Observation Medicine and ED Operations. He is a frequent presenter at the ACEP Emergency Department Directors Academy, as well as the recently added Accelerate Observation Medicine Conference. Dr. Rosania is the founder and former fellowship director for the Rutgers – NJMS Healthcare Operations, Quality, and Leadership Fellowship, and has created and directed several medical student electives on topics of health system sciences. Dr. Rosania completed his residency at Rutgers – NJMS. And has an MHA from the Edward J. Bloustein School for Public Policy at Rutgers University and an MS in Healthcare Informatics from Rutgers School of Health-Related Professions. His interests include patient safety, clinical operations, and systems-thinking in healthcare. He also has extensive interests in informatics and EHR user experience and their impact on patient safety as well as clinical decision making and diagnostic error.
