Alexandra (Alex) Pechhold, a registered patent attorney (J.D. George Washington University Law School, ’06), works in IP strategy at Innovation Ventures at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Alex manages and supports Rutgers’ IP portfolio by working with inventors, licensing managers, and outside counsel to assist in all stages of patent prosecution and strategic patenting decisions. Alex has practiced all aspects of patent prosecution, portfolio management, opinion work, and IP transactions, including patent licensing and patent sales.
After graduating with a B.S. Civil & Environmental Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, Alex joined the USPTO has a Patent Examiner in mechanical arts. Prior to joining Rutgers, she worked as a patent attorney at a firm in New York and at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox PLLC in Washington DC, prosecuting patent applications in mechanical and automotive technologies and preparing patentability, validity, and infringement opinions.
Alex was awarded the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program, a year long professional exchange program in Germany, after which she joined Siemens AG as Licensing Counsel in Munich, Germany and then Siemens Corporation in New Jersey. Her work at Siemens involved IP business development including patent monetization, evaluation, and exploitation strategies, portfolio mining, claim charting, commercial valuation, risk analysis, and negotiating terms of license agreements and NDAs. Alex speaks both English and German fluently.
