Mitchell “Mitch” Marcus, MPH, CHES®, is the Assistant Director for Student Engagement & Wellbeing at Rutgers School of Nursing (SON), and dually serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Entry to Baccalaureate Division at SON. Mitch has over seven years of public health professional experience in a Higher Education setting. In his staff role, Mitch leads student services and admissions operations, with a primary focus on the 2+2 Bachelor of Science (BS) Program, at Rutgers School of Nursing. Nursing students enrolled at the Blackwood Campus funnel through a unique 2+2 educational model, where they earn a BS in Nursing degree after a successful transition from a 2-year undergraduate institution. At SON, Mitch spearheads career, DEI, and wellness-focused programming aligned with student clinical/academic experiences. He also directs all Blackwood Campus recruitment efforts, admissions evaluation procedures, and marketing/communication strategies to promote and expand the 2+2 nursing education model. Mitch serves as Chair of the School of Nursing Staff Council too, where he oversees all staff professional development initiatives, community engagement efforts, and supervision of various committees that focus on colleague recognition, interpersonal communications, and strategic schoolwide partnerships. In his faculty role, Mitch serves as the course instructor for Sociocultural Dimensions of Health, where he teaches future nursing leaders about the social determinants of health, and their impact in various settings. Mitch earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University – New Brunswick, and Master of Public Health degree from Rutgers School of Public Health. He is a proud 3rd generation Rutgers alum.
