Leading with Emotionally Intelligent Communication

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a defining characteristic of great leadership and is a competency that aspiring and current women leaders can develop and leverage for building trust and growing influence. EI involves our ability to understand, manage, and express emotions while recognizing and responding appropriately to the emotional states of others. In this workshop, attendees will have an opportunity to increase one’s understanding of key principles related to EI, further develop skills in self and social awareness, and practice how to communicate in emotionally intelligent ways, the result of which can be more productive relationships, reduced conflict, and greater team performance.

The Women in Leadership Series launched in Spring 2021 and is a collaboration with Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the RBHS Office of Faculty Development, the Rutgers Faculty Diversity Collaborative, and the Rutgers Center for Organizational Leadership. The series was developed to engage and develop women faculty across RBHS and Rutgers. Women faculty from across the university, including alumni of leadership programs, are encouraged to attend these virtual sessions.
