Anticipating Risks and Leading During Crises in Academic Health

Gwendolyn Mahon, MSc, PhD, Dean of the School of Health Professions and Mary O’Dowd, MPH, Executive Director for Health Systems and Population Health Integration, presented at the Academic Leadership Program for RBHS (ALP-RBHS) on Wednesday, February 19. The topic of the session was “The Role of Communication in Anticipating Risks and Leading During Crises,” and both speakers highlighted examples from their respective experiences as Dean and former Commissioner of New Jersey’s Department of Health. During the session, ALP-RBHS fellows learned about core concepts and strategies for effective crisis leadership, and they had an opportunity to interact with the speakers and with each other through three crisis case scenarios.
